My Story
How it Started
The first version of this company was created in San Diego, CA. I had a vision to create a Clinic that would be an all-inclusive haven that felt like a magical and serene escape from the business of the city. A place that empowered its customers to heal from the outside in. My specialty, aside from my magic hands, was alternating between a peaceful silence and info dumping about my lifelong special interests (skin care and healing) and its that unique trait that acted like a lighthouse for my community to find me. As the company grew everything that I learned in my personal journey about healing internally would become enmeshed into my company making it much more than just skin deep. For 3 wonderful years San Diego Skincare Clinic delivered on that vision to a clientele that I feel truly blessed to have served.
Along the Way
Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to resist it, the neurodivergent millennial burnout hit me like a freight train in the dark deteriorating my health on every level. Yes there were multiple contributing factors that I could list, but what really matters is what I learned from the experience. I learned that the underlying emotions of burnout are something we all experience - trauma, abuse, grief, and betrayal. These are all emotions that each of us can relate to at any age during the dark moments of life. Which means everything that helped me throughout my healing journey could also be of use to many others. A lot of the advice out there expects healing to be a linear process, but in my experience it’s the opposite of that. It’s messy, raw, and really difficult to explain. So my vision expanded… I no longer wanted to provide only skin care services, I wanted to share with others what it is that saved me when I had to claw my own way out of the depths of hell.
The Haven’s Vision
It seemed fitting the new name would reflect that transformative death and rebirth of self that we all experience: a Plutonian Haven. My hope for this company is that it can be a guide in the dark moments of life; a lighthouse in the storm gently helping you find your way home back to yourself. It was birthed from its own Plutonian journey. It is in equal measure the blend of the spirit that birthed San Diego Skincare Clinic, the death of that chapter, the transformation of the original vision, and the wisdom of being rebirthed from the ashes. While others excel at a niche, this is the opposite. This is the hub that draws you in with Breath Work then quenches your curiosity on why taking L-Theanine with your coffee improves your focus. Or maybe you‘re visiting to read a blog post about the history of Hekate then leave with Skin Care products that result in you having the skin of your dreams.
In the end the intent is the same. There’s multiple ways to heal and this space encourages each individual to embrace their unique journey and to feel free to explore other journeys... and don’t forget to add some whimsy along the way (whether that’s through music, dancing, cooking, watching movies, whatever floats your boat). Because although we may be eager to be on the other side of healing already, this will take time and that‘s ok. It’s not a race, it’s a journey, so do what you can to enjoy it (responsibly) along the way.
